2016: A Year in Review
December 22, 2016
We can’t believe we’re at the end of another successful year, since taking over The Light Brigade in 2015.
The main highlight from 2016 was of course the much-anticipated opening of our amazing rooftop & cocktail lounge! After a a loooong 4 month wait for licensing approval we finally opened to the public just after a busy Grand Final Weekend. With stunning views of Sydney City & Paddington, it is already a hot spot for sunset drinks. Our 1920’s themed cocktail lounge and iconic pink powder room have been host to some incredible functions. With an extensive list of delicious cocktails, it is a popular choice for any get together or celebration. We thank you for your patience and understanding around our licensing restrictions.
This year was also jam packed full of memorable sporting moments. NFL enthusiasts got up nice and early for the Super Bowl, creating queues out the door and down the street from 7am! We loved seeing our patrons enjoy the ANZAC Day celebrations with a friendly game of two up! Crowds flocked to Brigade Bar in swarms of red and white to cheer on the Swans in the AFL grand final and we watched as the Sharkies finally won the NRL Premiership. In the NBA championship, the Warriors were defeated against the Cavs after blowing a 3-1 lead. We had three amazing events over the four levels for Melbourne Cup this year but there were no surprises with the results when the favourites brought it home. Thank you to all of our amazing sports fanatics who joined us at Brigade Bar to watch it all happen live on the big screens.
With 4 levels, there was always something happening at The Light Brigade. We hosted birthdays, after-parties, engagements and more. And we were lucky to have the Swans join us for some down time after their amazing grand final efforts this year. Moet helped us celebrate the opening of our rooftop by creating a unique champagne experience for our customers. And now that summer has kicked in, we thought what better way to celebrate than with delicious Pimm’s on the rooftop! We had the pleasure of throwing two amazing wine tasting dinners. Thank you to both Moss Wood & Henschke Wines, who perfectly paired their wines with our executive chef’s mouth-watering menu. We also participated in ‘Dare The Boss’ again, raising over $11,000 for the Children’s Cancer Institute. A special thanks to the Today Show who came out and filmed our bosses walk on glass, chop wood with their hands and break arrows with their necks!
And lastly, on behalf of the Light Brigade and the Bayfield family we would like to thank all our wonderful customers for your continued support throughout the year. We can’t wait to show you what 2017 has in store.
Merry Christmas & have a Happy New Year!
