2017: A Year In Review
December 21, 2017

Blink and you’ll miss it! That’s exactly how we feel about the year 2017. With Christmas almost here, we really can’t believe how fast the time has gone. But don’t despair, we sure did have some fun along the way!

Hola Subida!

The most memorable moment for us this year was the opening of our fabulous new restaurant Subida!! We did a complete revolution of our level one restaurant, into a fun and lively Pintxos & Tapas Bar. New Head Chef Justin Schott took inspiration from his fond memories of traveling around Spain, their vibrant culture, spontaneous eating style and fresh, delicious flavours. We also Teamed up with China Heights gallery to capture Subida’s essence, with bold colours, patterns and shapes that cover the walls, these art murals were created by artists Nadia Hernandez and Brett Chan.If you haven’t checked it out, make sure you visit us over the holiday break!

Cocktails Galore

We celebrated our one year anniversary since opening our beautiful rooftop and chic cocktail lounge. We worked around the clock to bring you some unique and creative pop up bars, including an assortment of Gin, Tequila, Spritz and Martinis, to name a few. We pumped out our speciality cocktails in the lounge and hosted an array of fabulous celebrations.

All The Action!!

And of course, it wouldn’t be a year review without talking sports!! We kicked things off with our annual Super Bowl party, which was bigger and better this year! Our faithful NFL fans lined up around the corner to secure the best spots in the house. We served up some delicious pub grub and got to witness one of the greatest sporting comebacks ever when the New England Patriots came back to win their 5th Super Bowl championship. We had a full house for the most anticipated boxing event in history when Floyd Mayweather came out of retirement to fight UFC’s bad boy, Conor McGregor. And last but not least, we watched our beloved Swannies claw their way back to the top after a shocking start to the season. They defied the odds and faced off against the Geelong Cats in a do or die playoff game. And while we didn’t get the win, we were super proud of our Swannies and can’t wait for all the action in 2018!

And lastly, on behalf of The Light Brigade and the Bayfield family, we would like to thank all our amazing customers for your continued support throughout the year. We can’t wait to celebrate 2018 with you.

Merry Christmas & have a Happy New Year!
